A short route starting in Woodside and cycling to the historical sites connected with Jubal Early's raid on Washington DC in the summer of 1864. The ride includes the Confederate cemetery, the Union cemetery and the fortifications at Fort Stevens and Fort DeRussy. The ride ends with a short journey through Rock Creek Park and back to Woodside.
My sole mode of personal transportation is my bicycle. I've never driven a car and I'm quite proud of it.
This blog is my place to rant and rave about cycling issues as I see them.
This is not a place for critics of integrated cycling - that conversation is over - segregation has no future - studies show it is not a safe or useful strategy, nor is it a healthy philosophy.

Historic Homes and Urban Nature Trails Ride
Last week, I found Bikemaps. I've found it a great resource for creating customized bike routes. Unlike some other bike routing apps, Bikemaps allows you to add landmarks and photos of the route.
This route offers a nice 6-7 mile ride of my neighborhood in Silver Spring, Maryland, showing various historical locations and the local bike trails.
